Good technique for "making" INFUSED OIL (as previously stated). Essential Oils are "distilled" from plants which require equipment, supplies, and a certain skillset using specific KNOWLEDGE. That amount of flowers would not have yielded 2 CUPS of Essential Oil via distillation which is why most EOs are more costly than infused oils. Please consider changing the title of this video to be accurate and truthful.

You making infused oil, not essential oils. Essential oils are made by distillation, it's why they more expensive. Essential oil have latin name (of a plant) in ingredient and only one ingredient - not two as carrier oil and for example rosemary together . Synthetic oils or fragrance oils are cheap and don't have latin name of plant on bottle.

I just watched this today. I have lavender in my garden but not in flower, so I cooked the leaves in a slow cooker with grapeseed oil for 7 hours. OMG the smell is through my house and is so divine. It doesn't smell like lavender though. This is the first post that says to cook fresh. Everywhere else it says to dry. I prefer instance gratification, so I hope this works. I will try it in my soaps. I think I would have to use the lot as I dont think this can be stored as the leaves have moisture would could make it go rancid

I'm sorry - there is no such thing as lilac essential oil. An absolute would be a 2nd thought and hold the fragrance. Infusing them won't hold their fragrance due to their chemical makeup and the heat used - that kills the fragrance.

Thank you for this video tutorial. Very useful information, I guess this instructional video could apply for lots of different flowers and essential oils. I am thinking of lavender, lemon, sage, rosemary. Plenty of essential oils that can be made.
